I started stained glass as a hobby because I saw a kit on sale at Lee Wards hobby store. The kit had pre-cut glass and printed instructions for a lead came lamp. This was in 1971. The printed instructions were very good… I think I still have them. (My parents learned by trying to help me and made two lamps.) I learned copper foil the same way, with a kit. Then I wanted to alter a kit by adding my own shapes, so I walked into a glass shop and asked the owner to show me how to use a cutter and I’d buy one. He showed me a straight cut and a curvy cut and I bought the cutter and oil and glass. I was on my way!
Stained glass has been a favorite hobby since then. I really enjoy developing original patterns with Corel Draw. I now do custom work, repairs and teach private and semi-private classes in copper foil and lead projects."
