VICKIE KAMERIK

I have a form of muscular dystrophy and have learned to adapt my work areas to suit my dissability. Since Jeanette can't change her back problems, she will need to adapt her work area. I raised my table to a height of 36". That was a comfortable height for me.

She can use wood or hard foam to raise her grinder/cutting area or solder station, to determine her comfort height. Once she finds the right height, she can set it more permanantly. I sit to cut my glass but I stand to grind or solder it. She can also try a bar stool to sit on, with or without a foot stool.

As far as seeing your work while you are working on it, I put a Rubbermaid storage container next to my work chair. I covered it with a board. I don't have to bend to reach it. It is the perfect height for me to work on. An added bonus is the extra storage space!
